First trained as an art historian, Michel Saulnier then turned to a more practical avenue in the field of the arts, having always had a strong desire to acquire technical know-how. He was able to acquire technical knowledge and create links with other experienced craftsmen back when he started learning sculpture.

Michel has been working in the arts and crafts community for over forty years. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and his works are regularly exhibited in Quebec, Japan and Germany.

The figure of the bear is very recurring in Michel Saulnier’s work. It refers to childhood, but can also evoke several levels of reading and meaning. His works leave plenty of room for interpretation and allow us to imagine several possible worlds.

He created many pieces of public art. One of them, titled "Je suis là", is installed at the Montreal Children's Hospital of the McGill University Health Center. Reffering to the iconography of the bear, this multidimensional and interactive work invites the viewer to discover its different dimensions. Acting as a protector, the bear intends to bring hope and courage.
